FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is your tallow from?
We proudly use American Angus beef tallow, sourced in the USA. Angus is a heritage cattle breed celebrated for its premium quality and nutrient-rich fat, making it ideal for deeply nourishing skincare. Our tallow is food-grade, never bleached, never hydrogenated, and free from artificial additives. It naturally contains vitamins and fatty acids that support healthy, moisturized skin.
Is it safe to use?
Yes. Our creams are made with natural, premium-quality ingredients that are safe and effective for body care. We craft our products for hands, feet, arms, legs, and aging skin.
How often should I apply it?
As often as your skin needs. Many customers apply once or twice daily, especially after bathing or before bed. For stubborn dry areas such as heels, elbows, or hands, you may reapply throughout the day.
What skin concerns may it help with?
- Customers have shared great feedback using our creams to support:
-
Dry, flaky, or rough patches on arms, legs, and feet
-
Cracked heels and dry diabetic skin
-
Keratosis pilaris (chicken skin bumps) on the backs of arms
-
Aging or thinning skin in need of extra nourishment
(Our products are not medical treatments. Please see the disclaimer below.)
Does it affect hormones?
No. Our creams are free from parabens, synthetic fragrances, and endocrine-disrupting chemicals. They are a natural topical moisturizer designed to support the skin barrier without interfering with hormones.
Who benefits most from it?
Adults with dry or sensitive skin
Elderly individuals with chronic dryness
People with keratosis pilaris (chicken skin bumps)
Anyone who wants a natural alternative to synthetic lotions
Those who want to age gracefully with nourished, moisturized skin
Do you make a baby-safe version?
Yes. We created a Baby & Sensitive Skin Balm made with only two ingredients: American Angus tallow and jojoba oil. It is unscented, simple, and gentle enough for newborn skin.
We do not recommend our lavender, vanilla, or cedarwood blends for infants, as essential oils may be too strong for delicate skin.
How should I store it?
Keep your jar in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Because our products are natural and preservative-free, we recommend using them within 6–12 months. If the cream softens in warm weather, stir gently and allow it to firm back up at room temperature.
Is it greasy?
No. While rich, our whipped formula absorbs beautifully and leaves the skin soft and silky, not greasy. A small amount goes a long way.
Is it cruelty-free?
Yes. Our tallow is a natural byproduct of American Angus cattle, sourced responsibly to reduce waste. We never test on animals and are committed to sustainable, ethical practices.
What makes Tallow & Bloom different?
Tallow & Bloom was created from a family journey of healing dry skin and reimagined into something luxurious and indulgent. While most tallow balms focus only on function, we focus on both function and beauty. Our creams are whipped to a silky, cloud-like texture, transforming a time-honored remedy into a modern luxury skincare experience.
We are proudly American, honoring tradition, wellness, and family while creating products you can trust.
Will this make my skin smell like beef?
No. Once rendered and whipped, tallow does not smell like beef. Our creams are smooth, clean, and light. Most blends include subtle natural scents such as lavender, vanilla, or cedarwood for a soft, luxurious fragrance.
Is this product “beefy”?
Not at all. While tallow comes from beef fat, the final result is silky and elegant. It feels like a luxury body butter, not a cooking fat.
Is it greasy or heavy?
Our cream is rich but absorbs quickly, leaving the skin soft and hydrated rather than sticky. A little goes a long way.
Is this sanitary if you render it at home?
Yes. We render our fat in small, controlled batches at home, using a slow process that naturally purifies the tallow. Every jar is crafted with care to ensure it is clean, safe, and high quality.
Why use beef fat on skin? Isn’t that strange?
It may sound unusual at first, but tallow has been trusted for centuries as a natural moisturizer. Its composition is remarkably similar to the oils in human skin, which is why it works so effectively. Unlike synthetic lotions that often only mask dryness, tallow nourishes and restores the skin barrier.
Is it vegan-friendly?
No. Tallow is an animal-derived ingredient. However, it is a sustainable byproduct of cattle that would otherwise go to waste. By using it, we honor the whole animal while creating something deeply nourishing for the skin.
Does it clog pores?
No. Tallow is considered non-comedogenic, meaning it is unlikely to clog pores. It blends with the skin’s natural oils and absorbs deeply.
